Wuxi Xinyu Cable Secures Order for Approximately 2,235.8 km of Overhead Insulated Conductors in Gansu

Wuxi Xinyu Cable Co., Ltd. has successfully secured two Gansu lots under State Grid Corporation of China’s 2026  joint procurement programme for 10 kV power cables and overhead insulated conductors in Northwest China and Tibet.

The two awards cover approximately 2,235.8 kilometres of 1 kV and 10 kV overhead insulated conductors for State Grid Gansu Electric Power Company.

The 10 kV Overhead Insulated Conductor—Gansu Lot 2 comprises approximately 759.8 kilometres of conductors, while the 1 kV Overhead Insulated Conductor—Gansu Lot 11 comprises 1,476 kilometres. The procurement contract for the 1 kV products has been formally signed by both parties and includes AC 1 kV, JKLYJ, 120 overhead insulated conductors.

Supporting Overhead Distribution Network Development

Overhead insulated conductors are widely used in urban and rural distribution networks. Installed on utility poles and overhead line structures, they play an essential role in the transmission and distribution of electricity.

Compared with bare conductors, overhead insulated conductors feature an external insulation layer that provides additional protection in complex outdoor environments. They are suitable for urban distribution lines, rural grid improvement projects and power networks across areas with varied terrain.

Securing contracts for both 1 kV and 10 kV overhead insulated conductors demonstrates Xinyu Cable’s capabilities in product manufacturing, quality control and large-scale delivery for overhead power distribution projects.

Designed for Gansu’s High-Altitude and Cold Environments

Located in Northwest China, Gansu lies at the intersection of the Loess Plateau, the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau and the Inner Mongolian Plateau. Its landscape includes mountains, plateaus, valleys, plains, deserts and Gobi areas. Most parts of the province are situated more than 1,000 metres above sea level, with significant differences in altitude and climate between regions.

Some of Gansu’s high-altitude areas experience cold winters, substantial day-to-night temperature variations, strong winds and prolonged exposure to sunlight. Overhead conductors installed in these areas remain exposed to outdoor conditions throughout their service life and may face challenges arising from low temperatures, repeated temperature changes, wind and complex terrain.

Xinyu Cable will organise production in strict accordance with the technical specifications and contractual requirements of the project. Comprehensive controls will be applied to raw-material inspection, manufacturing, finished-product testing, packaging and transportation to ensure that the supplied conductors meet the construction and operational requirements of the local power network.
