This multi-core XLPE insulated unarmored power cable is designed for medium voltage distribution systems operating at 8.7/15(17.5)kV, where cables are installed in protected environments without the need for additional metallic armour.
The assembled core structure and copper tape screening support consistent electrical performance while offering improved flexibility compared with armored medium voltage cables.
Core and Conductor Arrangement
Each core is formed with a Class 2 compacted copper conductor manufactured from plain annealed copper.
Multiple insulated cores are laid up together using PP yarn fillers and secured with binder tape, ensuring dimensional stability and ease of installation.
Insulation and Electrical Stress Control
An extruded semi-conductive conductor screen is applied over each conductor, followed by XLPE insulation suitable for higher medium voltage operation.
A semi-conductive insulation screen surrounds the insulation layer to manage electrical stress within the cable.
Screening and Outer Sheath
Copper tape is applied as the metallic screening layer around the assembled cores.
A PVC outer sheath, Type ST2, provides environmental protection appropriate for unarmored installations.
The standard sheath colour is black, with alternative colours available upon request.
